| Frequently Asked Questions |
1. What is PTFE?
Polytetrafluoroethylene is widely used to impart non-stick properties to cookware coatings because of its low coefficient of friction. Its temperature stability is up to 260°C when used for food-contact applications. ThermolonTM non-stick coating is PTFE-Free.

2. What is PFOA?
Perfluorooctanoic acid, sometimes referred to as "C8", is used as a processing aid in the manufacture of PTFE dispersions and other fluoropolymers. It is very persistent in the environment and is very slow to be eliminated from the human body. Currently there is concern because PFOA can now be detected in the blood stream of most Americans, but the mechanism by which it enters the body is not understood. There is growing evidence that PFOA should be considered as likely carcinogen.
There is no PFOA in GreenPanTM cookware. There is no PFOA used to manufacture the ThermolonTM non-stick coatings.

5. Is it true that the best frying result are with a plain (without non-stick) frypan?
Some dishes require a very hot frypan to get a perfectly browned surface. With PTFE non-stick, you are not supposed to overheat your pan, so you can not allow your pan to become very hot. With the ThermolonTM surface this is not a problem anymore as you can allow your pan to become very hot - in fact you would find it very hard to overheat it.

In comparison with ThermolonTM non-stick, PTFE coatings are double inefficient in their energy demand in the curing oven. Halving the curing energy per pan by using ThermolonTM non-stick coatings reduces the amount of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) that is generated.
